General rebate information
Q. How do HP's mail-in rebates work?
A.

A rebate is a transaction between you and HP. You must follow the rules and instructions listed on the rebate form. Generally, you will need to complete and mail in the rebate form (even if you submit some of this information online), along with a copy of your receipt and original barcode labels to the specified address. Terms and conditions vary for each rebate, so refer to an offer's specific terms and conditions pages on this Web site. In order to claim your rebate, follow the instructions listed on the offer page.

Q.

Why is it necessary to mail-in my rebate after I submit my information online?

A.

Physical rebate submissions are necessary so that HP can verify that each rebate request is unique (not duplicated). Some resellers may accept electronic submissions. Please refer to Terms and Conditions for full details.

Q.

Where can I get a copy of the rebate coupon?

A.

If available, coupons may be obtained from your local retailer or by clicking on "printable coupon" button located on the product rebate page. This will link you to an electronic coupon that you can print and submit to the fulfillment address outlined in coupon.

Q.

What's the difference between the "purchase" date and the rebate/offer "submission" date?

A.

Each rebate/offer has two key dates. The “purchase by” date is the date by which all qualifying products must be purchased. The “submission” date is the date by which HP must receive all applicable rebate materials, such as your product receipts, serial numbers, etc. Typically, rebate materials must be postmarked within 45 days of the purchase date.

Q.

Why does HP require mail-in proof of purchase?

A.

Requiring proof of purchase minimizes fraudulent rebate requests and confirms the validity of your claim.

Q.

Can I apply for more than one promotion?

A.

Unless specified otherwise in an HP offer, HP promotions are not combinable. There is also a limit of one (1) offer per customer or household.

Q.

How do I redeem HP Coupon Dollars?

A.

Step 1: Purchase any Hewlett-Packard product(s) at any authorized HP reseller in Canada. Keep all receipts and boxes of your purchase(s).

Step 2: Fill out the required customer information on the back of each coupon.

Step 3: Obtain a copy of your receipt and cut outs of original product UPC barcode labels located on the outside of product box(es). Mail copy of receipt, UPC barcode labels and completed HP coupon(s) to address below. N.B. Copies of UPC barcode labels will be accepted if original labels are required for another HP promotional offer. Please enclose details or a copy of the completed form of other HP promotion with the above.

Mail to: HP Canadian Dollars; P.O. Box 575; Brantford, ON; N3T 5N9

Step 4: You will receive a cheque (Canadian funds) for the dollar amount submitted within three weeks of receipt of your request.

Please note that HP will not provide the customer with any money back (change) when the submitted dollar amount exceeds the purchase price of HP product(s). Where purchase price exceeds the value of the HP dollars submitted, HP will only reimburse for the value of the HP dollars submitted (no top up). If there are any further questions regarding HP dollars, please e-mail: hpdollarhelp@distributech.ca or call 1-800-919-8831.

Submitting a rebate
Q.

What do I need to submit to qualify for a rebate?

A.
Unless otherwise specified in an HP offer, you are required to submit:
•  Original or copy of receipt
•  Cutouts of original UPC product barcodes
•  Completed printable coupon or online submission form
Please note that submitted materials become HP property and will not be returned and that HP is not responsible for any lost submissions.
Q.

What do the UPC barcodes look like and where can they be found?

A.

UPC barcodes consist of a series of short black vertical lines. There may be some products that have up to 7 different barcodes on one panel. They are located on the outside of your HP product box. Unless otherwise specified in an HP offer, you must submit original UPC barcodes to the appropriate fulfillment address; failure to submit UPC barcodes or submitting copies of UPC codes will result in an ineligible submission. Click here to view sample barcode.

Q.

Where can I find the serial number of a product?

A.

Hewlett-Packard serial numbers (S/N) are typically located on the side or back of our products on a sticker or plate. They are typically 10-digits or 12-digits [Emily please update this point on the US site also] long and consist of a sequence of numbers and letters.

Please note not to mistake serial numbers with product numbers. Product numbers also consist of a sequence of numbers and letters, but they are typically 6 digits in length.
Q.

What if the box has been discarded or destroyed? Would I still qualify for a rebate without the UPC barcode from box?

A.

With every claim, 2 proofs of purchase are required: the original UPC code and a copy/original of receipt. If the original UPC code is not available because you have discarded your product box, we will accept a letter from the store on store letterhead paper and management signature that verifies purchase of the product and that the product has not been returned.

Q.

What if I can't find my cash register receipt?

A.

Rebates will not be accepted without the original OR a valid copy of the cash register receipt.

Q.

What if I don't have a street address, only a P.O. Box?

A.

You must provide a valid street address, HP cannot mail rebate cheques to PO boxes.

Q.

Who do I call for help in filling out my rebate? What if I have questions?

A.

If you have any questions regarding this rebate, about pre-qualifying your rebate online, or about qualifying models, please call the HP Awards Centre listed under the terms and conditions section of each promotional offer.

Q.

Since I purchased my printer from an Internet retailer I don't have a receipt. Am I still eligible for the rebate?

A.

Yes. Submit the shipping invoice with the product names and product numbers circled.

After I apply for a rebate

A.

Q.

How long does it take to process a rebate?

A.

It generally takes 8-10 weeks to process a claim from the day that it is received. Please note that if there are stock or volume issues, rebate fulfillment may take longer.

Q.

What happens if I do not receive my rebate cheque after the prescribed period?

A.
