As aggressive competition puts more choice in the hands of your consumers, your business is challenged to meet their increasing needs and demands – faster and more efficiently.
By consolidating your current processes to a single-network infrastructure, you can connect voice, data, video, paging and other systems through laptops, IP phones and handhelds. The results are not only improved flexibility, accessibility, responsiveness and tracking, but ultimately a more satisfied and loyal end consumer. |

Committed to a vision of delivering excellence in patient-centred care, St. Olavs Hospital in Norway needed to modernize and reprioritize its IT infrastructure. Phase 1 of this university hospital development opened in May 2006.
St. Olavs implemented HP IP-enabled next-generation integrated communications, applications and solutions over a single IP network, which promoted holistic care of the patient. The revitalized infrastructure design supports WiFi coverage of over 560 access points, allowing the use of wireless devices such as one-touch nurse calls that allow for two-way communication between patients and their caregiver. HP IP-enabled patient terminals optimize the single IP network infrastructure by offering each patient individual rooms outfitted with television, Internet, radio, console video games, nurse calls and telephony. Additionally, medical staff, using their ID cards, can instantly access the patient’s records and lab results.
St. Olavs Hospital is now considered one of the world’s leading healthcare technology initiatives. The hospital’s investment in IP infrastructure has not only dramatically improved staff responsiveness to patient needs, but has resulted in reduced maintenance costs of approx. CDN$16.2 million annually.
