Halifax International Airport Authority (HIAA) welcomes over 3 million domestic and international passengers a year. In order to support a $90 million expansion project, including the addition of a US pre-clearance facility, the airport needed to migrate to an advanced, high-performance network.
In partnership with Cisco Systems®, HP’s IP-enabled solution integrated voice, video, data and wireless communications into a single, secure airport-wide communications network. This ensured that should any part of the facility fail, it would still operate at full capacity, dramatically reducing vulnerability. Additionally, because the system is centralized and computer-based, in threat situations photos of potential suspects could be sent to all gates instantly.
Working closely with the HIAA’s technical team, HP and Cisco provided a seamless migration to a more secure and consumer-centric platform that positions the airport as one of the most advanced in the country.
“Today we have a network that can accommodate growth and allow us to continue to innovate the way we deliver customer service… Thanks to our expanded network and facilities, we are ready to welcome the world to Halifax.”
–Michael Healy, vice president, infrastructure and technology Halifax International Airport Authority
