What is PurchasEdge?

A:  PurchasEdge is a rewards program from HP. Members will earn points based on the dollars they spend on qualifying Original HP printing supplies, such as HP LaserJet, inkjet, media and storage supplies. Those points can then be redeemed for more than 300 of the latest HP products, such as printers, scanners and PDAs—all for free.
Members will receive online access to their point balances and account information, and can shop for rewards on the password-protected PurchasEdge website. Members will also be eligible for exclusive quarterly promotions and deals to help them earn HP rewards even faster.
Participating in PurchasEdge is easy. Ask your participating reseller to help you enroll. They can even submit your invoices to HP for you.

A:  To participate in the program, business customers must:
Spend $500 USD ($505 CAD*) or more each year on qualifying HP supplies

How do I get started?

A: 
Contact your participating reseller and ask them to enroll you in HP PurchasEdge. You can also enroll directly at www.purchasedge.com/enroll.
New members will receive a welcome kit which contains detailed information on the program, including how to access the password-protected PurchasEdge website and additional member resources. New members will also receive 150 welcome points in their online PurchasEdge account as a thank-you for joining the program.

How will I receive PurchasEdge communications?

A:  HP will use your Program Participant Information to provide you with feature announcements, newsletters, e-statements, PurchasEdge offers and information on site improvements via your e-mail and mailing address. We consider these communications to be an integral part of the PurchasEdge program. Therefore, your account will be automatically set up to receive electronic communications to ensure that you are aware of your current account information, the latest promotions and program news. Only PurchasEdge (or agents working on behalf of PurchasEdge under confidentiality agreements) will send you these mailings for the above purposes. You may opt out of electronic communications by submitting the request in writing to support@purchasedge.com.

Do I have to buy directly from HP?

A:  No. You can continue to buy your office supplies as you currently do. Use any participating reseller or multiple resellers—we'll consolidate your points for you. If your resellers don't submit your invoices to PurchasEdge for you already, ask them to do so. This will ensure your point balance stays up-to-date and will be ready whenever you need it.

Can I buy from my current reseller or resellers

A:  Absolutely. We encourage you to continue buying as you normally do. Your participating reseller(s) will even submit your invoices to PurchasEdge for you, so you won't have to do any additional work.

What items qualify for points?

A:  As of April 2008, members could earn PurchasEdge points on more than 1,300 different HP supplies. Almost all HP LaserJet and inkjet supplies qualify. Additionally, most storage and paper products are eligible. However, hardware and other accessories are not eligible for PurchasEdge points. We update the PurchasEdge Qualifying Supplies List every quarter; you can see it by clicking here (460KB, PDF).

A:  No, remanufactured cartridges do not qualify for points.

How are points calculated?

A:  As a member, you'll earn one PurchasEdge point for every $4 USD ($4.04 CAD*) you spend on qualifying HP supplies. For example:

Can I combine cash with points to earn free products faster?

A:  No, the program does not allow members to supplement their points with payment.

Does PurchasEdge offer other opportunities to earn points?

A:  Yes. PurchasEdge periodically offers additional opportunities to earn points. For example, you could earn points for recycling your used HP ink and toner cartridges through the HP Planet Partners recycling program. As a member, you'll find out about these promotions and others when you visit www.purchasedge.com, and when you receive quarterly e-statements and other program communications.

How often will my participating reseller submit invoices for me?

A:  Invoices are submitted at the discretion of each individual reseller, but are most often submitted once a month. Please check with your reseller to find out when invoices will be submitted.

What is the electronic invoice submission process?

A:  Our electronic invoice submission process allows resellers to upload qualifying invoices quickly and easily using our online system. Once resellers have submitted qualifying invoices electronically, point balances will generally be adjusted the next business day. Not only is this the fastest way for members to receive their points, it's also the easiest.

How do I redeem points?

A:  Orders for free HP products should be placed online at the PurchasEdge website. Members with questions about point redemptions can contact the PurchasEdge Support Centre at support@purchasedge.com or 1-888-264-6599 between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. (EST), Monday-Friday.

Why are HP supplies not offered for redemption?

A:  PurchasEdge members have indicated that they are most interested in redeeming their points for free products such as HP printers and other hardware.
Of course, we recognize that providing members with a wide range of redemption options is important. That's why the current PurchasEdge Free Product Menu offers members more than 300 HP products to choose from when they're ready to redeem their points, including the following:
HP LaserJet printers
HP Color LaserJet printers
HP Designjet printers
HP Photosmart printers
HP multifunction printers (MFPs)
HP Inkjet printers
HP Deskjet printers
HP Officejet printers

Will you be adding more free items?

A:  Yes, we review and update the Free Product Menu every quarter. We communicate to all PurchasEdge members via our quarterly e-statements, which include information about free product updates.

Can PurchasEdge points expire?

A:  Yes. As of January 1, 2008, points that are not used within three years will expire. All points that have been accrued before that date will remain valid until 2011. PurchasEdge members will be notified when their points are 90 days from expiration and will be notified again when their points are 45 days from expiration.
Additionally, if PurchasEdge accounts remain inactive for 12 months or longer, we contact the members to confirm that they still wish to be part of the PurchasEdge program. After that, a new invoice must be submitted within 90 days, or the account may be archived and the accrued points would expire.

How will my personal information be used?

A:  Any member information submitted as part of the PurchasEdge program will be used in accordance with HP's privacy statement as posted on the HP website: http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/eng/privacy.htm.

The PurchasEdge program is channel-neutral, and it will not supply personally identifying information regarding PurchasEdge members to any competing channel.
