The right ink and paper matter |
 |

-
Refilling your ink cartridges can spell trouble for your printer—and your photo prints. HP recommends using only
genuine HP inks and paper for good reason: They've been specially designed to work together to offer the absolute
best quality printing.

-
Other types of paper can absorb too much ink, causing images to become blurry or too light.

-
Using ink refills can increase your printer maintenance, costing you more money in the long run. Learn why using
HP ink will yield the best results and extend the life of your printer.

HP photo paper is specifically designed to produce high-quality, true-to-life
color images that are hard to distinguish from traditional lab-developed photographs.
And when it's used with HP ink, it can product photo prints that will last for
generations2. You can choose from a variety of paper sizes including
4" x 12" panorama, 5" x 7", and self-adhesive photo paper. And you pick the
finish you prefer, from matte to high gloss. Read more about choosing
HP photo paper.

Accessories |
 |

Make the most of your photo printer with these accessories.

-
If you have a portable HP photo printer, leave the cord at home and use the optional rechargeable battery
(up to 75 prints per charge) or print wirelessly from your phone, PDA, or laptop using an optional
HP Bluetooth Wireless Printer Adapter.

-

-
Use a two-sided printing accessory (duplexer) to print a brochure or booklet.

Update your printer driver software |
 |

You may want to experiment with your printer driver software (the interface that pops up whenever you print). It controls
the resolution and color, and it usually chooses those settings automatically. That's is fine when you're printing on plain
paper, but if you're printing a digital photo, you may want to get in there and fiddle around to produce the best-quality
print.

Understand your printer and paper settings |
 |

Knowing when to use the different print modes on your printer can help you save money, conserve ink, and get
the best print possible.

Draft mode
This setting lets you print faster and use less ink. The print quality will be slightly diminished, but this mode is
perfect for drafts and everyday printing.

Best mode
Use this setting to produce the highest-quality photos.

These are general guidelines for changing your print quality settings. Please refer to your printer's manual for exact
instructions.

-
From the Start menu, click on Settings,
Control Panel, and Printers. Select your printer and click
Properties.

-
Choose the Device Options tab and click Print Quality.
Then select the quality.

Paper settings
Your HP printer can use more or less ink depending on what type of paper you're using. For best results, adjust the paper
settings each time you change paper sizes or paper types. (Usually you can select paper type—such as photo paper—and
size in your printer settings menu; please refer to your manual for specific instructions.)
