You have several options when it comes to creating personalized DVD and CD labels. With different types of
labeling at your disposal, the kind you use for your disc design depends on the results you're after.
Print labels directly onto specialized discs
When purchasing your media, make sure it says "inkjet-printable" on the label.
The HP
Photosmart D5360 has a special tray that makes printing directly
onto discs a breeze.
HP offers specialized, inkjet-printable
CDs and DVDs that allow you to print full-color photos, graphics,
or text right onto your discs. A 25-pack of inkjet-printable DVD-Rs
costs around $15, while a pack of inkjet-printable CD-Rs is about
$13.
For this method, you'll need a compatible printer such as the HP
Photosmart D5360 or the HP
Photosmart C5280 All-in-One. These printers have a special tray
that makes it easy to print directly onto your printable discs.
Follow these simple steps to get started: Step 1: Install the software that came with your HP Photosmart printer. Step 2: Open your digital photo and follow the instructions for printing. Step 3: When prompted, load an inkjet-printable CD or DVD into the CD/DVD tray
and print your creation!
The HP Activity Center
has free, customizable labels you can download and print at home in a wide array of styles.
For example, these cool, modern,
Spirographic photo labels
enable you to upload your favorite digital photos and enhance any music, photo, or video collection. You can
even print matching sleeves
for storage and portability.
For projects like these you'll need CD/DVD label media. (We suggest Avery CD/DVD label media 8962 or 8942.)
Most HP computers are equipped with LightScribe. Just look for the logo on your disc drive.
For the ultimate permanent disc labels,
use LightScribe direct disc labeling. Using special LightScribe media,
software, and a LightScribe-enabled disc burner, such as the HP dvd1040e,
you can literally laser-etch your artwork, photos—whatever you
want—directly to your discs!
Because the label is printed directly on the disc, LightScribe is
ideal for archiving. Embellish your CD collection, add personal images
to photo files, or make unique gifts—a slideshow for a family
reunion, or a collection of love songs for wedding favors. You can
even choose from five colored backgrounds.
Most new HP desktop
and notebook
PCs come equipped with LightScribe drives. If you think you may
already have LightScribe, just look for the logo on your drive.
