At HP, we talk today about doing well and doing good; our corporate objectives start with market
leadership and end with global citizenship.
As a leader in social responsibility, HP is building on six decades of being extremely clear about
our policies and deliberate in our actions, as we engage in responsible business around the world and
live up to our reputation as a good global citizen.
At a minimum that means upholding the highest possible standards of integrity and transparency. It
includes rigorously managing our performance in the areas of environmental sustainability, customer
and employee privacy and human rights. In today’s world, corporate social responsibility also
means leveraging our assets to raise skill levels, extend hope and extinguish despair.
As all HP employees know, global citizenship is a journey, not a destination. Our philosophy is to
continually increase the beneficial impact of our business through our global citizenship work, to be
flexible in responding to changing needs and to seek areas where our investment is most effective.
To learn more about the broad range of Global Citizenship initiatives
executed by HP and our goals for the future, take a look at the 2006
Global Citizenship Report.
In Canada, HP has been actively involved in programs that reinforce our commitments to employees,
customers, suppliers, partners and communities. In October 2003, HP Canada established the Hewlett
Packard Chair in Corporate Social Responsibility at the Schulich School of Business at York University.
The creation of the chair is the result of more than 10 years of academic leadership in CSR by Schulich.
One of HP's objectives has always been to contribute to the communities
where its employees work and live and to society as a whole. HP strives to be an exemplary
corporate global citizen by operating all aspects of its business with uncompromising integrity,
by designing environmentally sound products, and by making technology accessible to all people
as a means to learn, work and thrive.—
